The Bachelor Matty J’s epic bucks party adventure unfolded from Sydney’s west in Penrith to the beating heart of the land down under, Sydney Harbour.
The Bachelor Matty J
Now, let’s talk about the man himself, Matty J. For those living under a rock or blissfully unaware of reality TV, Matty J first captured the nation’s heart on The Bachelorette before later finding his happily ever after – with his now wife Laura Byrne – as the man centre-stage on The Bachelor Season 5.
After winning Laura’s heart on the Bachelor, Matty almost let it slip the he was going to pop the question when he spilled the beans on radio about what he’d want to do for his buck’s party. Matty said ‘If I do get married I would like to go somewhere where I’ll have a lot of fun with the boys, like a surf trip – I don’t want to stay in (Sydney’s) Kings Cross at a bar I’d be drinking at at a weekend’
So, did the Bachelor Matty J get the simple surfing celebration that would make Mick Fanning proud?
Suit up
Matty J’s adventure began with a twist—wedding chores. Yes, you read that right. Matty J and his crew started the day with some wedding-related duties. But hold your horses, it wasn’t all boring seating plans and floral arrangements. They embarked on a quest to find the perfect suits for the big day.
Picture this: Matty J and his mates cracking open a cold one while exchanging banter and getting measured up for bespoke suits. Now, that’s how you make wedding planning manly.
Getting wet at the bucks party is worth it
After the suits were sorted and the testosterone levels reached their peak, it was time for a change of attire. The boys swapped their formal suits for wetsuits and headed to Penrith Whitewater Stadium for an adrenaline-pumping session of whitewater rafting.
And guess who they ran into? None other than Olympic champion slalom canoeist Jess Fox. We can only imagine how Matty J tried to keep up with her, but hey, it’s the effort that counts, right?
The bucks party headed for bigger waters
From battling the rapids, the lads upgraded their watercraft and set sail on the magnificent Sydney Harbour. A charter yacht became their luxurious floating palace, complete with a deck for sun-soaked shenanigans and a fully stocked bar for liquid refreshments. We can only imagine the scenes of mate-ship, laughter, and questionable dance moves that took place on that yacht.
Maybe not the simple day in the surf, but it looks like they were living the dream!
As the night wore on and the drinks flowed like high and low tide in the Harbour, the details of the evening became hazy. Where did the boys end up next? Your guess is as good as mine – but we’re not writing off Kings Cross.
However, the evidence was clear the next morning that they had partied on the night before, when the (no longer) Bachelor Matty J posted a rather hung-over looking thumbs-up Instagram pic. Let’s just say his smile wasn’t as bright as the Sydney sun, and his eyes had seen better days. We’ve all been there, mate!
