What could be one of the most out-there and enviable on-screen bachelor parties in recent cinematic history, the Crazy Rich Asians Bachelor Party sure makes you wonder how those with no limitations, and access to anything these modern times has to offer, might throw a bachelor party.

And this bucks party had all the trimmings. Private jets, private helicopters, luxury cars, top-shelf drinks, a custom shipping container ship, a 150m long vinyl sticker, DJ and club-spec AV system, screens-screens-screens, Jacuzzis, foam pit, fire works, streamer bombs, bazooka, futsal and billiards tables… and I’m sure we’ve missed a bunch of stuff.
I mean, there’s things the bucks party can do on the water, and then the are THINGS YOU CAN DO IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS.

Who ran the numbers
In an interview with GQ Magazine, Karleen Roy, luxury event planner and owner of The Vanity Group, explains to us how this Bachelor Party would have cost somewhere around the $3m mark – and that’s US dollars, so you to the math to local-currency that bad boy.
But, when you listen to how easily the four, five and six dollar figure individual activities just seem to roll off Karleen’s tongue in this 7 minute and 15 second breakdown of the Crazy Rich Asians Bachelor Party, you can see the dollars adding up and adding up.
- $5k for the vinyl sticker on the side of the boat that costs who-knows-how-much
- $8k per hour for the G4 chopper that flew the buck and his crew out to to the boat
- $20k in models
- $200k plus in screens and AV equipment
- open bar tab on all the top-shelf liquor you can think of
See where we’re going here? You’d better crack out a monster Excel spreadsheet if you’re gonna track costs like these so you can split it between the crew. But remember, the Groom never pays!
You’ll need coin, time and lawyers
It’s pretty clear that you need some serious coin to put on a Crazy Rich Asians Bachelor Party. But you also need time and lawyers.
- TIME: The professional event planner, Karleen, reckons she’d need 30 days to make this a really slick event. So if you’re the best man, you and the crew should probably tack an extra week or two on to that since your event planing skills are in the semi-pro league.
- LAWYERS: If you’re arranging a bucks party of this level, your groom likely wants to make sure that what happens on tour stays on tour, and Karleen suggests that confidentiality agreements and waivers are the way to go. In true modern-day spirit, sue any M-n-F-r who puts a pic on Instagram.

Was the Crazy Rich Asians Bachelor Party a success
As much fun as this off-the-hook bachelor party looks, it clearly failed to give the groom the best time of his life before the best day of his life. For all the lavishness that this party was, Bernard Tai simply organised a party for himself. He didn’t think about what Colin, the Buck, wanted – and that, my friend, makes it a failed bucks party in our minds.
Luckily, Nick knew the floating debauchery party island was not Colin’s scene, so they commandeered one of the modest choppers to whip off to the smaller and more intimate simple floating shack, leaving the bazookas and bikini-clad model filled Jacuzzi tubs behind. Instead, it was quietness, cold beers, good conversation

Hurrah, success. Colin got the Bucks party that he wanted, and Bernard partied harder than any International Waters Citizen had ever partied before.
But don’t get me wrong, I’d still love to be a stow-away on that party boat!
